Eco-Mantra, a sustainability engineering consultancy specialising in regenerative hospitality design in Southeast Asia, will deliver two sessions at PHIST 2026 (Phuket Hotels for Islands Sustaining Tourism) on Monday, 7 September 2026 at Angsana Laguna Phuket, Thailand.
PHIST is Southeast Asia’s largest sustainable tourism event. Its 2026 edition marks the event’s 10th anniversary and carries the theme “Beyond Green: Turning Sustainability into Measurable Value in Tourism and Hospitality,” with 26 sessions across workshops, masterclasses and panel talks, the Green Groove Sustainability Expo, a Farm Zone, a Non-Profit Zone, and the Remade Elegance upcycled fashion show. Admission is free with prior registration.
Maitri Fischer, CEO of Eco-Mantra, presents “Sustainable design for hotels should be the baseline — proof from the environmental and financial models” from 12:00 to 13:00. Drawing on more than 100 projects, the majority of them hospitality developments across Southeast Asia, the session walks through the environmental and financial models behind sustainable design decisions, showing how water, energy, waste and infrastructure strategies change projected operating costs and life cycle environmental outcomes for a hotel or resort.

Mendi Siahandan, Head of Operations at Eco-Mantra, leads a regenerative hospitality workshop, “How to Create Genuine and Meaningful Guest Experiences,” from 11:00 to 11:50. The workshop teaches hoteliers, operators and sustainability leads to read the living system a property sits within — its community and its ecosystem — identify what makes a location singular, and design guest experiences that strengthen both.

The two sessions run consecutively, and members of the Eco-Mantra team will be available at the venue between and after them for meetings with owners, operators and design teams.
Eco-Mantra works across the full project lifecycle, from concept design through to operations, on hospitality projects in the tropics. Recent work includes Mandarin Oriental Bali, Waterbom, Somewhere Lombok and Sayan Terrace Resort. The firm’s life cycle assessment of the Bale Bio structure recorded a 104% cradle-to-gate carbon reduction (51,336 to −2,062 kgCO2e, Stage A), with findings published in IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science following the Sustainable Built Environment Conference in Tokyo.
