• Environmentally Sustainable Design

Our work

Sustainability that pays for itself.

Most developers hear “sustainable” and brace for a bigger bill.

Our projects work differently, and the numbers show it. When we join at the design stage, building sustainability in from the start adds roughly 1 to 3% to construction cost and tends to earn that back within about five years. When we come to a property that’s already running, we only put in what saves more than it costs.

Either way: less energy, water and waste, and lower running costs for decades.

And the benefits that are harder to put a number on: a stay guests remember, a brand people trust, and a development the local community is glad to have.

The earlier we start, the greater the benefits

The biggest gains come from being in the room at design stage, before the costly decisions are locked in. On the resorts, villas and other destinations where we’ve been there from the start, the numbers look like this:

Up to 60% less energy & groundwater

Big cuts to the two things a property draws on hardest: power, and water pulled from the ground.

Up to 99% waste diverted from landfill

Almost nothing leaves the site as rubbish.

Up to 90% less stormwater runoff

Rain soaks into the ground instead of running off, which protects the slopes from erosion and landslides and keeps the gardens intact.

Drop of 3–7° ambient temperature

Passive design keeps spaces cooler, so guests stay comfortable with far less air conditioning.
